Is language learning expensive?

We at Das Language Nest assure you , that you will pay us only for the efforts that you see from our side. Just like you, we also come from a very humble background and do not like to make non genuine investments. We would not say that our fee is the lowest, because we invest in everything which is going to make our students learning experience of the German language incredible. Most updated books, technology, and other mediums are just some example.

Do you provide Certification?

Yes, we provide certifications. These certifications would validate that you have completed a specific level of the language with us. We prepare you for the examination of CEFR Certification Exams from Telc , Goethe etc.

How can I practice speaking?

This is one of the most sought-after questions. We at Das Language Nest bring you the most innovative ideas to help you practice Speaking. Few examples are Role Plays, Presentations, Talkshows, Film watching etc. Hang on! These ideas are continuously improvised with help of Suggestions/Feedback of the students itself.

Do I have to study every day?

“No” , “not much”, “we will make you do everything like a child” would not only be wrong but also a very false promise. Yes, You will definitely have to put in at least half the efforts as we will do. Do not forget that we will be channelizing your efforts. Our Aim is not to make you dependent on us , rather independent and confident while you communicate in the foreign language in the outside world /real life situations.

What are the factors that influence the acquisition of a second language?

There are not many. According to our Viewpoint, irrespective of age or any other factor, second or foreign language can be learned. There are many theories that acquisition of a language can be quicker and easier in an early age, but the theories do not say that a person at a later stage in life cannot learn a foreign or a second language. There are unlimited examples that we can provide you of the people who have started learning the language around early 30’s. Not to forget, we specialize in teaching working people and the college students.

How is learning a second language different from learning your mother tongue?

This is a very important topic of discussion, because there are many institutes out there   who can tell you that they can make you finish the foreign language may be in a span of 3-4 Months, and will make you write the exams of the highest levels. But do you know what does a certificate of a higher level of language mean? It means that one who has the certificate of the higher level, he/she can be compared with a native speaker. And when you are not able to exhibit the same performance in the language as what is mentioned on your certificate, then it creates a mismatch and you find yourself in the middle of nowhere. What is point of discussion of all this under this question? Simple!! Do you realize that you still make a lot of mistakes or may be do not know the proper rules of your own mother tongue or your native language? And how much time did it take you to express yourself in your mother tongue so fluently? The time equal to your current age, right? Therefore, concluding the point, learning of your mother tongue took approx. the years equal to your age, therefore expecting that you can have a command over the foreign language in just a span of 3-4 months would be wrong. And if any institute tells you or even gives a guarantee for this, please save yourself from the trap.

Which is more important: learning grammar or learning vocabulary?

Our students have been struggling with this question quite often and in fact all the foreign language learners would also be. We would say, both are equally important, and both are the pillars of the language. The Grammar of the language like ‘’German’’ is without any doubt very tricky. But only focusing only on grammar part or just boosting about how perfect your grammar is, will not be of help unfortunately. One needs Vocabulary to implement the grammar rules and make sentences. How will you tell the outside world that you know the language, if you don’t know the words? And vice versa too. Only learning Vocabulary will not help, because Grammar form the basis of the sentences and expressions. Therefore, it is of extreme importance to maintain a balance between both the subjects. We always plan developing activities, which help you learning the vocabulary like flash cards, vocab mind games etc. The grammar is taught before a topic starts. So that one can comprehend, what is going on in the class.

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

Yes, we conduct weekly or fortnightly tests covering all the grammar topics and vocabulary of the respective duration. Apart from this, an exam of the course or level is also planned with the consent of the course participants. We believe in keeping you as well as us informed and updated about your progress, so that your weak concepts can be identified and focused on. Your results not only matter to you, it matters to us equally. And by results its not only meant ‘’certificate’’, it means your actual language learning. It means that you never get stuck or feel miserable while having encounters with the German language.

Do you offer language courses for business?

Yes, our course developer, Jaspreet Kaur, has an experience in both the sectors- German language as well as in corporates. She is an MBA and a German language teacher. Working in Corporate has been her passion and so teaching the German language . The team tries to bring to the students the best possible combination of language contents that are specifically aimed for usage at offices and corporates. Businesses which trade with Corporates in German speaking market will get a special edge with our ‘Courses for Professionals’. Do not forget to get in touch with us especially when you are a corporate and wanting to train your employees for the German language. We have special offers for you here!

What are the career opportunities for me after learning a language?

Many! If you are a student wanting to travel to Germany for your higher studies or may be a working professional seeking a Job in Germany, then you obviously are clear with the answer to this question. But for the people who do not want to target Germany and may want to stay in their own countries, for them too the career options are many. You can be simply become a German language trainer, or may be a teacher at school or university, working with giants and MNCs like EY, Amazon, American Express, Deutsche Bank, BMW, etc. Do not forget about the lucrative work options in Public services like German Embassy, Cultural projects and other missions taken up by the governments itself. One can also become a Freelancer and offer Interpretation and Translation services. Please feel free to contact us to get guided on this. We have an amazing Alumni network. Our Alumnus are working in various industries and we can get you some amazing round table sessions which can be very informative to you guys.

What is the process to enroll in a course?

Its simple! You can go through the courses at ‘Our Courses’ page. Select the course that you are interested in. The same page gives you an option of ‘Register Now’. Fill the ‘Register Now Form’. It will ask you questions like ‘when do you want to begin, what is your target level, your professional background’ etc. Once you have submitted that, you will get an Email from us in 24 hours a detailed Email on how to go about it and what is the procedure.

However we would also want to mention that for the candidates, who have studied from some other institutes except ‘Goethe’, will have to appear for Placement test. This is not applicable for the students who want to join us from A1. The placement test will help you and us to determine your level of understanding of the language and we can then along with you plan your course, focusing on the areas which you are weak at and how to handle them.

The candidate will have to clear the placement test of the level which he/she has done from the other institute before coming to us. The candidates would be exempted from this placement test on showing the Certificate of Goethe or Telc Exam.

Can I pay the fee in installments?

Yes , we offer you the option of paying the fee in 2 installments . You will get a reminder of the next installment when due.

What is the course structure?

We cover all the 4 parts /modules of the language- reading, listening, writing, speaking. For this we have 3 major stages in our course. Stage 1 is about grammar and its usage. You will be taught grammar before hand of a particular topic so that its easy for you to grasp minute details. Stage 2 is Textbooks in which we cover vocabulary, working with texts and listening practices. Till Stage 2 is about your passive learning of the language. Stage 3 and the final stage is about your active learning of the language and exhibiting that knowledge you have learned during the course. This includes speaking and writing. Writing is majorly given as practices to be done by the student’s themselves and submit their works to us, which we check and give feedback to you. Speaking practice happens in many innovative and creative ways, for e.g. Roll plays, presentation, planning something together, etc.

Do you conduct a trial class before enrolling?

Yes. 1-2 trail classes are allowed to you before joining the course.

Which tools do you use for teaching online?

For teaching the classes we use generally MS Teams. However it also depends on the comfort zone of the candidates. Other than that our favorites are Onenote and Google Drive. At Das Language Nest we and you together maintain a notebook in a very systematic way. The Home and Class assignments, the tests are all done on this and both the parties can assess it. Thanks to the technology and our technical team to train us on that. You feel, that you are not so sound with the technical knowledge? No problem, we can guide you through that.
